During the night of April 16, a Russian missile strike caused an explosion near the construction site of the BOSTON Creative House residential complex in the Pochaina district of Kyiv. The complex is being developed in partnership with SAGA Development.
The blast wave from the explosion damaged the building’s facade, shattered several windows, and caused localized harm to internal structures and construction equipment. A preliminary assessment by the engineering team found that, despite the proximity of the explosions, the building’s load-bearing structures remained intact — further evidence of advanced design solutions, strict adherence to building codes, the appropriate level of construction quality, and materials used in the project.
Regarding injuries, available information indicates that those affected were within the immediate blast zone, outside the construction site’s boundaries. During the air raid alert, all workers and anyone on site took shelter in the underground parking area, which covers over 9,000 square meters and serves as a designated shelter space under the project’s safety solutions. The shelter remained open and accessible throughout the alert.
BGV Development and SAGA Development have pledged to take full responsibility for restoring all elements of the property damaged during the shelling. A detailed technical assessment is currently underway, along with the development of a comprehensive restoration plan.
“We are already actively carrying out restoration work and are doing everything possible to eliminate the aftermath of the shelling as quickly as we can. We have mobilized all necessary resources and provided additional funding for the work. The construction team is operating in an intensified mode to mitigate damage and stabilize the site as soon as possible. According to preliminary assessments, we expect to complete the main restoration operations within a month, after which we will begin preparing to hand over apartments to our clients,” said Maksym Kovalenko, CEO of BGV Development.
As a reminder, BGV Development was founded in 2024, during the full-scale war — a fact that immediately established higher standards for design and construction approaches, as well as a deep understanding of wartime risks and the need to account for them at every project stage. All projects are implemented with additional safety considerations in mind.
