BGV ready to consider new investment projects for critical minerals extraction in western regions
Investment group BGV Group Management, founded by Gennadii Butkevych, considers Ukraine’s Carpathian region promising for future investments in critical raw materials (CRM) extraction and processing projects and is ready to consider opportunities to implement them. BGV Group Management said this during the Carpathian 8 Summit 2026 in Bukovel.
“We see significant potential in the Carpathian region for developing critical raw materials projects and are ready to consider opportunities to invest in and implement such projects. For us, it is important that such investments create added value not only through extraction, but also through infrastructure development, the introduction of new technologies, job creation, and the development of local supply chains,” said Sergii Voitsekhovskyi, a member of BGV’s Board of Directors.
Over the past 10 years, BGV has invested more than $125 million in the extractive industry and built a diversified portfolio of critical minerals projects. The company currently holds six licenses for the extraction of critical raw materials.
The Carpathian region has particular potential due to a combination of undeveloped deposits, remaining reserves at sites that were previously exploited, and technogenic resources. Modern technologies create opportunities for the comprehensive extraction of valuable components from resources that may previously have been considered economically unattractive or technologically challenging.
Promising components in the region include lithium, rubidium, cesium, magnesium, strontium, boron, iodine, bromine, and other associated components. Additional advantages include the Carpathian region’s proximity to EU markets and the possibility of integrating future projects into European critical raw materials supply chains.
BGV views CRM projects as a long-term investment area that could stimulate technological development, create new economic opportunities, and deepen Ukraine’s integration into European value chains.
The Carpathian 8 Summit is the inaugural forum of a new regional initiative held in Bukovel, bringing together eight countries of the Carpathian region, representatives of governments, EU institutions, international partners, businesses, and investors. The Summit focused on security, economic development, investment, and cross-border cooperation, with an emphasis on turning political dialogue into sepecific joint projects.
This year, Gennadii Butkevych’s investment company BGV Group Management was one of the event’s general partners, supporting international dialogue and the development of new partnerships, particularly in the extractive sector.
