BGV Group has invested over UAH 135 mln in educational projects
Education remains a key investment focus for BGV Group Management and its founder, Gennadii Butkevych. In recent years, the group has allocated more than UAH 135 million to support universities, technology startups, scientific research, educational programs, and various other learning-focused projects. The company is systematically developing its educational initiatives as part of its vision for Ukraine’s future as a knowledge-based economy. The BGV team emphasized this during a panel discussion on the role of business in transforming higher education at the ‘Education of a New Ukraine’ conference, organized by the Ministry of Education and Science under the auspices of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
Among the educational projects supported by BGV Group Management are American University Kyiv and Zhytomyr Polytechnic State University.
Notably, Gennadii Butkevych’s group of companies was among the first to invest in establishing American University Kyiv — a private university in Ukraine created in partnership with Arizona State University, one of the most innovative institutions in the United States. BGV has also supported the university’s expansion into Dnipro and has provided ongoing funding for scholarships for talented students.
In partnership with Zhytomyr Polytechnic, BGV Group Management has contributed to a range of innovative initiatives, including investments in the development of the university’s science park and technical laboratory, support for startup accelerators, organization of technological competitions and hackathons, and the introduction of grants to attract talented engineers, as well as annual scholarship programs for gifted students.
“For us, it’s important that universities do more than just produce knowledge—they need to be open to partnership, willing to collaborate with businesses, and ready to try new things. This kind of cooperation benefits both sides—business and science. In Zhytomyr, for instance, we see a real, substance-based ecosystem taking shape, not just something on paper. That’s why we chose to become active partners. One standout example is the development of interactive simulators for FC Polissya, a project we’ve worked on together. We’re also in the process of opening a joint analytical lab for rock studies—a space where business and science can come together to develop cutting-edge solutions for the Ukrainian market. Additionally, BGV is exploring cooperation on IT solutions, because we believe digital technologies can significantly enhance our business operations and create new growth opportunities,” Sergii Voitsekhovskyi, member of the board of directors of BGV Group Management, said.
The investment company places particular emphasis on fostering an internal culture of education and strengthening ties between business and academia. Continuous learning is deeply embedded in the company’s corporate DNA: this year alone, four managers from the management company earned master’s degrees from American University Kyiv. Members of BGV’s senior management not only teach at leading Ukrainian universities but also, in some cases, volunteer their expertise to support various educational initiatives.
