BGV founder Gennadii Butkevych makes record $1.35 million donation to Usyk family charity event to save children’s lives and support Ukraine’s military

Gennadii Butkevych, founder of BGV Group Management, supported a charity auction organized by the Usyk Foundation during Forbes Ukraine’s annual business event, “Entrepreneur of the Year 2025.”

As part of the auction, Gennadii Butkevych made his largest single donation to date, contributing $1.35 million, or UAH 57,155,490. The contribution will be transferred to the Usyk Foundation, founded by Oleksandr and Kateryna Usyk.

Of that donation, $1 million will be used to pay for the treatment of two-year-old Matvii Nikitiuk, who has a rare genetic disease, Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The overall cost of his treatment, the only gene therapy currently available that can stop the progression of the disease and give the child a chance at a full life, is nearly $3 million.

Kateryna Usyk and the Usyk Foundation are personally overseeing Matvii’s case, supporting his family and helping secure the required treatment. The Nikitiuk family later stated that the donation helped them reach their fundraising goal and gave their son a chance at a full life.

The remaining portion of Genadii Butkevych’s donation will be directed to Ukraine’s 27th Artillery Brigade, named after Cossack leader Petro Kalnyshevskyi.

“For us, this is not just a fundraiser that has reached its goal. This is the example of when the partnership between the Usyk Foundation and Gennadii Butkevych translated into real support that saves lives and restores hope,” Kateryna Usyk said.

The charity event took place on December 17, 2025, during Forbes Ukraine’s annual Entrepreneur of the Year 2025 event, which brought together Ukrainian business leaders. The charity auction raised more than $3.75 million for humanitarian and defense initiatives. These include programs to provide housing to Ukrainian families who lost their homes due to the war, aid for several military brigades, including drone supply, and other social projects.
