Gennadii Butkevych, founder of BGV Group Management, received an award from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. First Deputy Chairman Oleksandr Kornienko presented the honor to the investor on March 15, 2026, in Zhytomyr, on the eve of the match.
The special award recognizes his service to the Ukrainian people, significant contribution to strengthening the country’s economic and social potential, and his substantial personal contribution to the development of sports in Ukraine.
Gennadii Butkevych is the owner and president of Polissya Football Club (Zhytomyr). Under his leadership, the club rose from the First League to become one of the leaders of the Ukrainian Premier League and made its debut in European club tournament qualifiers. Alongside the club’s progress, football infrastructure and youth training systems are also developing. In particular, the FC Polissya children’s academy was established to support young footballers and nurture a new generation of Ukrainian athletes. Today, around 2,000 children aged 3 to 17 train at the academy.
Support for sports is one of the main areas of BGV Group’s activity. Gennadii Butkevych’s group of companies supports the development of volleyball in the Zhytomyr region, paying particular attention to children’s and youth competitions. BGV also sponsors the Ukrainian national basketball team, supports Ukrainian Olympians, and has cooperated with world boxing champion Oleksandr Usyk for over ten years. Special attention is given to the development of veteran sports, which plays a key role in the rehabilitation and social adaptation of Ukrainian defenders. Overall, BGV Group Management supports more than ten sports disciplines and initiatives, investing in sports development from children’s and youth levels to partnerships with top Ukrainian athletes competing internationally.
