BGV strengthens its international presence in Europe’s mining community
The BGV Group Management team presented its mining projects at one of Europe’s key mining industry events — the MINEX Europe Forum 2025. Held in Lisbon, Portugal, the forum brought together leading experts, companies, and institutions shaping the future of critical raw materials in Europe.
This year’s theme — Made in Europe: Securing Critical Raw Materials for a Sustainable Future — fully aligns with the BGV group’s mining strategy, which focuses on securing stable supplies of critical minerals for the global supply chains of the EU and the United States.
Vita Khyzhniak, BGV’s Head of Foreign Economic Relations, joined the panel discussion, Powering the Future: Lithium & Battery Material Supply Chains in Europe. The panelists discussed building resilient supply chains for battery materials — a topic highly relevant not only to BGV Group Management but also to Ukraine as a whole. This is especially true given the progress of BGV Graphite, the company’s graphite project at the Balakhivske deposit in the Kirovohrad region, which has been recognized as a strategic asset for the European Union.
To date, the BGV Graphite team has successfully tested a pilot sample of anode material for lithium-ion batteries. The electrochemical performance met international standards. The anode was based on spherical graphite derived from enriched concentrate from the Balakhivske deposit. The spheroidization was carried out in October 2024 at the production facilities of the German company NETZSCH. Test results confirm that Ukrainian minerals and products made from them can compete globally and become a key component of Europe’s raw materials security. This creates the foundation for developing international partnerships and launching full-scale industrial production in Ukraine.
Participation in MINEX Europe also provided BGV with the opportunity to exchange experiences with international partners on financing mining projects and implementing sustainability principles. Among the main challenges discussed at the forum were long-term financing for early-stage projects, obtaining a social license to operate, and training qualified professionals for the mining sector.
