BGV Group Management becomes partner of special industrial event Mining Day for the third time

Posted on 10/09/2025 by News Manager | 12 Views

Mining Day took place in Kyiv as part of Mineral Resources Day, organized by the European Business Association. The event gathered leading figures from the mining sector, industry experts, government officials, and international partners.

This year’s agenda centered on mineral resource management under martial law, strategic cooperation with the United States, and Ukraine’s role in global critical raw materials supply chains. During a panel on these themes, Yuliia Lushpiienko, Head of Legal Affairs at BGV Group Management, outlined key sector challenges and discussed prospects for strategic projects.

She emphasized that BGV Graphite’s flagship project exemplifies vertical integration and provides explicitly for several phases of development:

  • Construction of a mining and processing plant at the Balakhiv deposit with a capacity for 50,000 tons of graphite concentrate per year;
  • Establishment of a facility to produce 19,000 tons of spherical graphite (SPG), a critical material for lithium-ion batteries;
  • Production of high–value-added end products.

During a panel on competitiveness, participants, including representatives of BGV Group Management, also addressed issues critical to Ukrainian enterprises. One key concern is electricity costs, accounting for up to 70% of SPG production expenses. Speakers stressed that integration into global markets happens at the national level, and only coordinated action between business and the state will position Ukraine as a reliable partner in international supply chains.

For reference:

Launched by the European Business Association in 2023 as Subsoil Use Day, Mining Day aims to assess the state of subsoil use in Ukraine, identify key industry challenges, particularly around sustainable development and investment, and explore ways to improve the investment climate and regulatory policy.
