BGV deepens international partnerships in rare earth elements
BGV Group Management is deepening its partnership with Finland’s Metso, a leading provider of mining and metallurgical equipment and technologies. The companies are entering a new phase of collaboration on the Yastrebetske deposit project, which targets zircon‑fluorite‑rare‑earth ores.
This is the second joint project between BGV Group Management and Metso, following their previous collaboration in the graphite segment. “We began working with Metso on the basic engineering for the BGV Graphite project—a processing plant at the Balakhiv graphite deposit. Today, we are continuing our partnership to research rare earth elements and other rare metals. It’s an important step toward building a modern processing base for Ukraine’s strategic resources,” said Viktor Tanay, a member of BGV Group Management’s board.
During a recent working meeting in Finland, BGV Group Management specialists and Metso representatives discussed conducting technological research to process the Yastrebetske deposit concentrate for enrichment and extraction of valuable components. Metso’s research center can develop both beneficiation processes and hydrometallurgical methods to recover rare earths and other valuable elements, opening new opportunities for BGV’s critical minerals projects.
LLC CFR GROUP, a part of BGV Group, is developing the Yastrebetske deposit. Geological and technological studies are underway to support a reserve estimate.
For reference:
Metso is a global leader in technologies and solutions for the mining, minerals processing, and recycling industries. Headquartered in Helsinki, Finland, it operates manufacturing and service facilities in more than 50 countries. The company develops innovative equipment, automation systems, and beneficiation technologies designed to enhance production efficiency and minimize environmental impact.
The Yastrebetske zircon–fluorite–rare-earth deposit is located in the Zhytomyr region, within the Sushchany-Perha tectono‑metasomatic zone. The site underwent geological exploration during the Soviet era; today, it is operated by CFR GROUP LLC, a part of the BGV Group.
